As a real estate professional, embrace your true personality.
When many people start a career in real estate or another professional career, they think they have to be stuffy—to present themselves in a stiff manner that they think their clients and communities will want to see. However, I don’t think that should be the case.
In real estate, as with many professions, I think you should know your personality and be authentic to yourself. One way to get in touch with your personality is to visit the DISC personality type website. There, you can take a five-minute test and it will give you insight into the different aspects of your personality.
You need to know your personality type, be authentic, and don’t be phony about who you are.
My personality is aggressive and assertive. When I set my mind to something, I’m going to go out there and do it; I don’t need a lot of time to make decisions. But there are many other personality types! Some people are more laid back, some like to analyze details, some like to be sociable, etc.
Embracing your personality is the key to drawing in like-minded clients. Since I’m assertive and decisive, my clients tend to be like me. People who, for example, like to dig into the numbers and take a long time to come to a decision often clash with assertive people like me, and that’s okay—we are who we are.
The bottom line is you need to know your personality type, be authentic, and don’t be phony about who you are.
If you have any questions about embracing your authentic self in your real estate career or anything else to do with finding success in the industry, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’d love to hear from you.
